Fact: If you teach middle level to older students, the vast majority of your students, if not all of them carry a phone with camera capabilities. Fact: The more senses we use as we learn, the more likely we are to retain information and make meaning of it. Why not combine those two ideas and get your students moving with their own phones? Whether you are using QR Tags, documenting, recording, collecting or creating, kids have what they need literally in a snap.
Another added benefit is how easy it would be for students to continue their work at home or even on the way there, depending on the activity. Photos taken this way are easy to share in a variety of ways as well.
Your school as a whole might want to consider collecting and utilizing out of contract employee phones or devices donated by parents for the same purpose, especially with younger grades in which not as many students may have smart phones yet.
